In what way is God motivated?

Well, i have come to the conclusion before, that God has created us because he didnt want mindless robots to love him because they had no choice. So he created something that had a choice to love him. Priests i have talked with agreed with me that that must be the motivation behind our existence and our free will. But wouldnt that only mean that God was lacking? That he was insecure? If he is complete and/or perfect, why would he need motivation? And there is certainly no reason to create something to 'love' you when you are not lacking love.
