Why do liberals trust big government more than God...?

It reminds me of how the cuban government would brainwash students against God. They would go up to a student in cl and ask him to ask god for some candy. Naturally, no candy would materialize. Then they would ask the student to ask Fidel Castro for some candy. The student would do this and the government representative would open his hand revealing some candy for the student to take.
